Methodological explanations
The sample survey of the economic activity of population provides a new source of information about the economically active and economically non-active population which has recently been introduced into the statistical practice of the country. The move to this method of data collection on the labour market situation has been stipulated by the restructuring of economic system in Azerbaijan. The development of the private sector and the new forms of labour, the large increase of types of economic activity and number of units, and the difficulty in applying traditional methods of data collection brought the forefront the need to change the priorities in the organization of employment strategy, as well as the acceptance of new concepts and definitions and new methods of data collection that correspond to international practice.
Accordingly the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan conducted the first time a household-based survey on economic activity of population in 2003.
From an economic point of view, the main purpose of the data collection was to receive information on the number and structure of the economically active population in country
The presented statistical data in this section covered the whole population aged 15 years and over irrespective of activity type, sex, marital status, residence and etc. household-based survey on economic activity of population by result of 2011.
