Methodological explanations
This section contains information characterizing main indicators of labour market, employment, types of employment, distribution of employment by kinds of economic activity, persons working by hire or not hire, and others.
Persons working for hire (permanent, temporary, seasonal, causal or lump-sum employment) and non-hire are classified as employed in economy.
Types of employment. By types of employment economically active population is divided into persons employed in economy, religious men, military men and unemployed. Both persons working for hire (not depending on permanent, temporary, seasonal, casual or lump-sum work) and non-hire are referred to the employed in economy. In this case, persons working in state enterprises and organizations, enterprises in special and mixed property, farmer (peasant) farms, as well as engaged in individual labour activity, own farms and served for separate individuals should be considered in the number of employed.
Employees - is the worker group containing all persons who signed a written labour contract about terms of employment with head of enterprise (department, organization) of any type of ownership or an oral agreement was reached, and who get a compensation (substitute, hire) in-kind or in cash expression.
Own account workers. This group of population includes persons who provide themselves with income-generating work (entrepreneurs hiring employees, own-account workers, family unpaid members).
Till 1999 number of employed population was distributed in the base of "All Union Classification by the fields of National Economy" (in the period of former Soviet Union) by fields of national economy and since 1999 according to passing into the registration and statistics system accepted in international practice this indicator has been working out on the base of Classification of International activity types.
