The statistical yearbook reflects information on medical-prophylactical institutions network, diseases of population by main groups and distribution of them by localization, sanatoriums, holiday hotels and rest homes, boarding homes for elderly people and invalids and also data on primary invalidity, births, abortions, occupational injuries, development of physical training and sport, as well as data on size of population, birth rate, death rate, natural increase of population.
It must be noted that, inter-census period, i.e. information on population size for 2000-2009 has been re-estimated based on primary data of the population census carried out on April 13, 2009.
Tables' data were given based on X Revision of International Classification of Diseases (ICD-X).
Information published is based on the official statistics of the State Statistical Committee of the Azerbaijan Republic.
Some information reflected in the yearbook was provided on the economic regions of the country
Total number of physicians - includes all physicians with higher medical education, employed in medical treatment and sanitary organizations, social security institutions, scientific and research institutions, personnel training establishments, in the institutions of public health bodies, etc.
Total number of paramedical personnel - includes all persons with secondary medical education (excluding dentists), who are employed in medical treatment, sanitary organizations, social security institutions, preschool institutions, schools, children's homes, etc.
Medical institutions rendering outpatient services to the population - include all medical institutions which provide outpatient services (polyclinics, outpatient clinics, dispensaries, outpatient departments of hospitals, health centres, etc.)
Morbidity rate - is calculated as the ratio of the number of new cases to the average annual number of resident population.
Disability - is defined as temporary or permanent lossing of workability due to chronical diseases or injuries.
