Methodological explanations

Number of cultural institutions - cultural institutions with different activity directions officially registered at the end of reporting period.
Public libraries – libraries with universal library funds satisfying public requirements of all levels of population for literature without any restrictions by education, specialty level, religious conviction and other characteristics.
Library stock– set of printed works systematized in a certain order and placed at the disposal of readers for general use.
Clubs - cultural and educational institutions consist of clubs, culture homes, art centers, teacher’s houses and houses of artists, free time centers, auto clubs and etc., which organize free time of population, activity of amateur folk art collectives and other club type formations.
Movie theatres – stationary movie installations installed in specially equipped places, which are not used for other purposes; movie theatres with two, three and more projection booth are considered as one movie theatre; in spite of the fact that they have independent directorate and joining up with other movie theatres under common directorate, movie theatres are accepted as a separate accounting unit.
Cinema show – one-time demonstration of specific film programs (one or few) without consideration its genre. Only paid cinema shows are considered.
Professional theatres – creative collectives of dramatic art with professional troupe which are considered legal entity. They include opera and ballet, musical comedy (operetta), dramatic, child and young people’s theatres and puppet shows.
Concert organizations include philharmonic society, concert halls, concert palaces, musical halls, professional orchestras, and musical groups.
Museums are research and cultural, educational institutions engaged in collection, protection, study of historical materials and cultural monuments, as well as its propaganda
  • - Historical museums include museums with large historical profile – universal historical museums (e.g. country historical museum), museums with profile appropriate for specific historical areas (archaeological, memorial, ethnographic museums and etc.) or independent areas of history (e.g. military history museums).
  • - Memorial museums cover museums that collect and demonstrate materials, documents and etc. concerned with separate historical events and with memory of well-known figures (scientists, writers, painters, actors and etc.).
  • - Museums of local lore are museums which collect documents and demonstrate historical monuments, nature science and art collections, works of folk art of specific geographic and administrative territories.
  • - Art museums covers art museums, picture-galleries, and museums of fine arts, museums of architecture and etc, as well as museums, the exhibit of which characterize a development of music and dramatic art.
Museum fund is a sum of museum articles and collections that are keeping and protecting in the functioned museums.
Circus is an institution having special building with ring for presenting of the circus performance and periodically changing of the circus artists for performance.
Zoological gardens – scientific-enlightener institution keeping wild animals in enclosed (in cages, open-air cages) and semi enclosed (in large territories like natural conditions) spaces for the purpose of their demonstrate, study and rearing.
Recreation centers are places for conducting of the concerts, performances, festivals, lectures, seminars, competitions, exibitions, trade fair in local, international and country level.
Hishtorical, cultural, architectural, art and ethnographic reserves are territories or places that are protected by government and which have great importance for the state, history and culture of the country.
Immovable historical-cultural monuments are historical and cultural monuments, archaeological and architectural objects, ethnographic, epigraphic and anthropological materials as well as buildings, memorial places and things belong to historical events or persons that are important for the country. Monuments may be immovable and non-immovable. Immovable monuments are architectural objects. Non-immovable monuments are protected in museums, archives, funds, exhibitions, and other corresponding places.
Child musical, art and painting schools - primary educational institutions providing with training on music, art and painting.
Number of attendees of cultural and art institutions – indicator reflecting number of audience in theatrical performances, concerts and other performances.
