The youth making 2.8 million persons or 31 per cent of the country population feels government support constantly. During last years the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan on “Youth policy” was adopted, “State Program on youth of Azerbaijan” was confirmed in 2005 and 2011, all-republican forums of youth are regularly carried out and 2007 was announced as year of youth. The funds allocated by the state budget are increased year-by-year. According to Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 5 May 2007, № 331-III QD regarding to changes and additions to the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan on “Youth policy”, the youth are persons aged 14–29 years old. The State Statistical Committee is regularly preparing and publishing the statistical issue “Youth of Azerbaijan” according to the “State Program on Youth of Azerbaijan” (2005-2009) confirmed by Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 30 August 2005, № 982. The statistical publication “Youth of Azerbaijan–2011” includes following sections: demographic indicators, healthcare, education and science, employment and unemployment, households consisting of young families, migration of youth and time use as well as crime. Demographic indicators section covers distribution of youth by sex and age groups and by regions, ethnic groups by sex, number of live births by age of mothers and birth order, live births by officially married and unmarried women, deaths by sex and age groups, marriages, divorces, and etc; Healthcare section reflects information on morbidity of youth with neoplasm, active tuberculoses, alcoholism, drug addiction and drug abuse by sex and age, distribution of abortions by age groups, distribution of youth recognized as disable for the first time by main diseases, sport equipments, medals earned by Azerbaijan sportsmen and engagement in different kind of sport and etc. Education and science contains information on educational attainment of the population, number of students in secondary specialized and higher educational institutions, number of students got doctor's degree, number of researchers in scientific institutions and etc. Employment and unemployment section reflects information on economically active and economically inactive population based on results of statistical surveys about economic activity of the population, distribution of employed and unemployed by sex, educational attainment and age groups, distribution of economically inactive population by sex and age groups, number of unemployed registered and number of persons found a job by Employment Service. Households consisting of young families, migration of youth and time use section includes information on number of households consisting of young couple (wife and husband under 30 years old) by regions of the country, youth arriving to Azerbaijan from abroad for permanent residence and youth departuring from Azerbaijan to foreign countries for permaneте residence as well as distribution of youth by purposes of migration as well as time use of youth. Crimes section covers information about types of crime committed by youth and number of youth aged 14–29 years old committing crimes related with drugs. |
