Methodological explonations
The data on marriages and divorces is obtained based on the annual statistical processing of information on certificates of marriages and divorces registered by the departments on State Registration of Civil Acts of population.
The minimal nubile age, as required by the law in the Republic of Azerbaijan, for men is 18 years and for women is 17 years.
Marriage date is the date of registration at bodies of State Registration of Civil Acts of population. Marriage is considered as cancelled since the date of registration of cancellation at bodies of State Registration of Civil Acts of population bodies.
Information on marriages and divorces is obtained from the reports of bodies on State Registration of Civil Acts of population. These reports consist of the final data by the place of registration but not the place of residence of those getting married or divorced.
The form of relations that determine rights and responsibilities of man and woman in front of each other and in front of children. The legal relationships between husband and wife is the registration of their marriage at bodies of State Registration of Civil Acts of population.
Current vital statistics considers accounts only the legally registered marriages. Population census accounts everybody living in actual marriage regardless of being registered or not.
Divorce (cancellation of marriage) - final legal cancellation of marital relations between husband and wife gives legal rights for repeated marriage. The marriage is considered as canceled as soon as the cancellation is registered at bodies of State Registration of Civil Acts of population.
General ratio of marriages and divorces - is the ratio between the registered marriages and divorces on one hand and average annual population size on another. As general coefficients they are also calculated per 1000 population.
