Methodological explonations

The information contained in the medical records on death is the source of information on death. These records are issued by doctors in case of death caused by disease, accident, suicide, homicide or other external factors (injuries infringed in the course of operation envisaged by the law, injuries identified to be infringed accidentally or on purpose, injuries in the course of military actions). These notes are the grounds for indication of causes of death in the certificated of death.
Coding of death causes up today is carried out by Main Accounting Center of the SSC of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Processing of data is implemented according to Brief Nomenclature of International Statistical Classification (1975) of diseases, injuries and death causes, as well as the Nomenclature of Death Causes (1981) of the International Statistical Classification (revised IX edition).
Ratio of causes of death – is computed as ratio between the current data of death due to indicated causes and average annual population size. In distinction to the general death ratio, this ratio is computed not per 1000 of population, but per 100 000 of population. General death rate is given by main classes of death causes. These can be dependent on the distinction in ages of dead. The average value for each class of causes of death standardized by age be means of direct method meaning by five-year age group of the unified age structure.
The death rate of able-bodied population by main classes of causes of death is determined on the basis of dividing the number of able-bodied population died due to the causes of death referred to the indicated classes for one year by the average annual population size of the same age group.
Children mortality by causes of death is computed similar to all the ratios on death causes, with the distinction of it being calculated per 10 000 of average annual population size against 100 000.
