2. GENERAL INDICES OF POPULATION REPRODUCTION

The data on births and deaths is obtained through monthly statistical processing of the data from the relevant birth and death registration forms compiled by the State Registration of Civil Acts service. Only live births are entered into the number of the newly-borns.
Grude rates of birth and death - is ratio of live birth and death to average annual size of the population. This indicator is calculated per 1000 population.
Annual average number of population - mathematically calculated average number for the beginning and the end of the year.
Natural growth rate - is the difference between population growth and death rate and calculated per 1000 population.
Grude natural growth rates are usually used on changing of population size under the influence of birth and death. The demographic situation and the changes related with that in a specific area are determined on the basis of the special indicators. Thus, the natural movement coefficient depends of the sex and age composition of the population as well as number of birth and death during previous years. The migration also affects the sex-age composition of population.
Fertility rate -includes information on potential average number of children that could be delivered by woman throughout entire fertility period (15-49). Its quantity doesn’t depend on age of population and characterizes average level of birth during calendar year.
Life expectancy indicator is formed based on the calculations of the death tables.
Life expectancy at birth (for 0 age) - the average number of years that the person potentially will live, provided that death rate for each person of this age group throughout entire life of this group will remain at the level of that for the accounted year.
General population reproduction rate (gross) - covers the potential number of children that woman can deliver throughout the fertility period, provided that birth rate for each age group remains at modern level. This indicator is calculated by the multiplication of fertility rate to the number of girls born during the accounted year. Grude (gross) rate is not depended on the age composition of the population and shows general characteristics of the birth rate.
Net population reproduction rate - shows the average number of girls, delivered by one woman throughout entire fertility period, who achieved fertility age, provided that the birth and death rates at each age remain at modern level. This indicator shows the level of substitution of women by their daughters considering death and birth rates from long- term perspective. Net rate shows not the short-term perspectives of the population growth, but reflects the general peculiarities of the birth and death level for the current period.
