The president is selected by secret vote every five years. On 15 October 2003 Ilham Haydar Aliyev was selected as The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, received the vote of 1 860 346 persons or out of 76.84% of voters, participated in the voiting. The Legislative Power in Azerbaijan Republic realized the National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Milli Mejlis). The National Assembly of the Azerbaijan Republic consists of 125 deputies.
